MedExpress Opens Elm Grove Location
The new MedExpress Urgent Care at the former Hoss’s Restaurant in the Elm Grove Crossing Mall opens its doors today, giving Elm Grove and other area residents a venue for quick treatment of minor health problems.
It is the second MedExpress center to open in Wheeling.
Community members and MedExpress staff celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the renovated facility, which includes a spacious waiting room, an X-ray suite, a corporate care center, a procedure room for minor surgeries such as suturing and two rooms with beds where very sick patients can rest.
“We wanted a welcoming environment that leaves people feeling better than when they came in,” Josh Caplan, marketing supervisor, said.
Also in celebration of the new location, MedExpress presented a $5,000 check to Oglebay Institute’s in-depth environmental education program that allows local students to expand their knowledge of the sciences with hands-on equipment. The program partners with several schools in Ohio County including Elm Grove, Bethlehem, Middle Creek and Steenrod Elementary schools.
Dan Neely, area manager of business operations for MedExpress, said the MedExpress location on National Road has been successful enough to expand operations to serve a wider area of the Friendly City.
“We saw the need for the community and here we are,” Neely said. “We’re very excited to be here. It’s not too far up the road, but this is a great area. We knew there would be enough business here for two centers. MedExpress fills in the gap between physician care and the emergency room. A lot of the folks who go to the emergency room could probably come to us, so we hope to have that overflow.”
MedExpress is a walk-in facility open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week and treats patients of all ages for injuries and illness including the flu, asthma attacks, broken bones, cuts requiring stitches and more. MedExpress also offers a variety of medical and preventive care services, such as digital X-rays, EKGs, physicals, flu shots, IVs and lab work. There is always a physician on site, as well as a nurse and X-ray technician.
MedExpress is headquartered in Morgantown with locations in West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Florida and Delaware.
