History Heroes Hail From Ohio Valley

Nearly a quarter of the 2013 West Virginia History Heroes inductees hail from the Northern Panhandle.

The 11 local inductees, honored last week during a ceremony in Charleston, join 37 others from around the state in this year’s class. The local inductees are:

  • Douglas W. Breiding, nominated by the Wheeling Area Genealogical Society
  • Linda S. Comins, nominated by the Friends of Wheeling
  • Mary and Philip Greathouse, nominated by the Brooke County Historical Museum and Culture Center
  • Nicki Melissinos, nominated by the Marshall County Historical Society
  • Shirley Neff, nominated by the Tyler County Museum
  • John George Pandelios, nominated by the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center
  • Kathie Reed of Alma and Frances Weekley of Friendly, nominated by the Ohio Valley Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
  • Joanne Sullivan, nominated by the Wheeling National Heritage Area Corp.
  • Jamie Vosvick, nominated by the Cockayne Historic Preservation Committee, Cockayne Farmstead
