House Blaze Investigation To Continue
No injuries resulted from a fire on Elm Avenue in Moundsville early Thursday morning.
The Moundsville Fire Department received a call at 3:56 a.m. regarding a residence at 223 1/2 Elm Avenue that had caught fire and become fully engulfed in flames. Moundsville Fire Chief Noel Clarke said nobody was inside the home as firefighters attacked the blaze.
The report from the Moundsville Police Department said the Moundsville Fire Department had to return to the scene at about 7:54 a.m. after the fire rekindled.
Clarke said several area fire departments assisted Thursday, including Moundsville Volunteer Fire Department and Glen Dale Volunteer Fire Department. Limestone and Washington Lands VFDs were kept on standby. Tri-State Ambulance and Moundsville Police Department also were on scene during the blaze in case of complications.
Although there were no injuries, Clarke said the building itself was a total loss. No neighboring structures were damaged. Clarke said the cause of the fire and its rekindling were still unknown Friday.
A full investigation into the case is ongoing.
