Stalking, Stabbing Follow Tavern Argument
Wheeling police say Robert Daniel Lawson stalked another man in the street and stabbed him Wednesday night following an argument between the two at a bar on Wheeling Island.
Ohio County Magistrate Harry Radcliffe arraigned Lawson Thursday on a single count of malicious wounding. Lawson, 27, of Wheeling was released from the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville later that day after posting $30,000 bond.
Four police patrol units and a supervisor responded to the reported stabbing at Iowa Street around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The officers were waved down by the alleged victim, Scott Tullius, who was bleeding from a wound to the back of his arm.
Tullius informed police Lawson had fled into his home across the street.
Officers contacted Lawson at the residence and placed him under arrest. Police said his hands had blood on them, and officers discovered a folding knife in his apartment.
They collected additional evidence later at police headquarters.
According to Tullius, an altercation erupted between him and Lawson at a local bar.
Tullius left to avoid any further confrontation, he told police, but Lawson followed Tullius to his car. Lawson then started striking the windshield of the car with the knife, and he allegedly stabbed Tullius when he attempted to stop him.
Police transported Tullius to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injury.
