Cousins Arrested For Pot Brownies

West Virginia State Police arrested two Michigan men last week after they allegedly found medicinal marijuana and brownies laced with the drug inside the pair’s vehicle.

Ohio County Magistrate Patty Murphy arraigned Teddy Leppard, 41, and Edward Collins Jr., 31, each on three counts of possession with intent to distribute. Both men remained in the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville late Thursday on $75,000 bond.

On June 19, a State Police trooper stopped Collins for following another vehicle too closely on Interstate 70 in Triadelphia. Collins reportedly admitted his driver’s license was revoked. Court documents state the car smelled of marijuana and while writing Collins a citation, the trooper noticed a reference to the drug on the man’s T-shirt.

After the trooper inquired about any drugs in the car, Collins and Leppard reportedly admitted there was medical-grade marijuana in the center console. Police also found three more containers filled with marijuana, as well as brownies which Collins reportedly later admitted were made with marijuana oil, inside the trunk.

While at the State Police detachment in Wheeling, Collins admitted he grows medical marijuana in Michigan, and he and Leppard, his cousin, brought the drugs along on a camping trip in West Virginia.

Collins is scheduled to appear in front of Magistrate Harry Radcliffe today during a preliminary hearing. Leppard’s hearing has been scheduled for Monday before Magistrate Charles Murphy.
