Local Dog Park Effort Has A Bit of Catching-up to Do

Wheeling has some work to do to catch up with Mountain House, Calif., which leads 15 finalist communities vying to win $100,000 for a dog park in PetSafe’s “Bark for Your Park” online voting contest.

Be sure to vote at www.petsafe.net – you can do so twice a day through July 26, once at that website and again by visiting PetSafe’s Facebook page.

Although Wheeling trails in the overall standings, it is well-positioned to win one of four additional $25,000 awards up for grabs. The finalists are divided into three groups – small, medium and large cities – with the final leader of each set to win one of those prizes. Wheeling leads its nearest competitor in the medium cities category by nearly three votes to one.

And don’t forget: Each Friday presents an opportunity to earn extra votes. Hidden somewhere on PetSafe’s website is a question that, if answered correctly, means your next vote will be counted as seven instead of just one. The “Wheeling Needs a Dog Park!” Facebook page will post information directing voters to the question each Friday.
