New 85-Room Hotel Is Now Up and Running
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Opening a new 85-room hotel can be a lot of work, but Stephanie Westfall and the staff at the Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham seem up to the task.
To accommodate the crowds of oil and natural gas drillers and pipeliners working in the area, the new hotel is now up and running at the site adjacent to the Hampton Inn, near the Ohio Valley Mall.
“It’s been a pretty busy day,” Westfall, the hotel’s general manager, said. “We are glad to be open to serve our guests.”
In addition to the RV parks throughout the Upper Ohio Valley designed to accommodate oil and gas workers, several new hotels are opening in the area. The new 55-room Comfort Inn along National Road between St. Clairsville and Blaine is also now open.
The Hampton Inn has serviced the St. Clairsville area for many years, dating back to its days as a Sheraton property. The facility stands prominently on the hill above Interstate 70, overlooking the mall area. Undo’s West is also on the property. Now the long-standing Hampton is joined by the adjacent Microtel.
Chris A. Chesebrough, vice president of hospitality operations for Wheeling-based Century Management, oversees the hotel. He previously said every room will have connections to the Internet, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod radio connections, microwaves and refrigerators. Guests may enjoy a daily deluxe continental breakfast, he said.
Another Belmont County hotel, the 63-room Sleep Inn, is also scheduled to be up and running by early 2014 near Valley Harley-Davidson and the Bel-Morr Market along Ohio 149 near Belmont.
In Ohio County, the new 123-room Hampton Inn & Suites is now open at The Highlands, as is the nearby Microtel Inn & Suites.
