Get Ready to ‘Werk It’

THORNVILLE, Ohio – Music will fill air over the rolling knolls of Legend Valley next weekend, when a who’s who of musical talent assembles for three days of live performances during the fourth annual Werk Out Music and Arts Festival.

Hosted by Ohio’s most notoriously danceable jam band The Werks, the Werk Out returns to Legend Valley Sept. 12-15 along with a myriad of unique artists. More than 50 bands ranging from electronic to bluegrass, rock’n’roll to funk and everything in between will take one of four different stages from late Thursday afternoon to the early morning hours Sunday.

Based in Dayton, The Werks is a band that has taken a grassroots following built it into widespread fan base since its inception in 2007, quickly emerging in just a few short years as a nationally renowned powerhouse on the national music festival circuit.

The band truly showcases its talent each year at the Werk Out with headlining performances all three nights before a faithful crowd of fans prepared to “Werk It” to the band’s infectious dance beats and fusion of jam band acrobatics with a hint of electronic flare. Band members Rob Chafin on drums and vocals, Chris Houser on guitar and vocals, Norman Dimitrouleas on keyboards and Dino Dimitrouleas on bass have honed The Werks’ sound through relentless touring and at notable appearances at the nation’s biggest summer music festivals, including All Good, Summer Camp, Wakarusa, Electric Forest, Camp Bisco and other music festivals throughout the region and across the country.

Joining The Werks at the band’s namesake festival this year will be EOTO (featuring Michael Travis and Jason Hann of The String Cheese Incident), ekoostik hookah, GRiZ, Papadosio, Conspirator, Kung Fu, Dopapod, Rumpke Mountain Boys, Blue Moon Soup, Cosby Sweater (featuring Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee), Johnny Neel (formerly of the Allman Brothers Band), Aliver Hall, BigEar, Jones for Revival, Jazzam, Under the Sun, Broccoli Samurai, David Gans, MojoFlo and many more.

Formerly known as Buckeye Lake Music Center, Legend Valley has played host to many of the biggest rock concerts in the state of Ohio since the early ’70s. The legendary venue has welcome countless iconic artists from the Grateful Dead to Metallica, has played host to major music festivals such as Lollapalooza and the All Good Music Festival, and has continued to serve as a gateway for grassroots music and the best up-and-coming musical acts in the region.

Legend Valley is located about 20 minutes east of Columbus on Interstate 70, just off exit 132.
