Murder Suspect Nabbed After Shooting

A Weirton man is dead and an 18-year-old man is being charged with his murder after a shooting early Sunday near Hudson and Orchard streets.

The victim, identified as Frank Tulock of Orchard Street, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, police said.

Weirton police charged Adam Barnhart, 18, of 225 Hudson Ave. with murder and domestic violence. He is being held in the Northern Regional Jail without bond on the murder charge, and $2,500 bond on the domestic violence charge.

Police Chief Bruce Marshall said his department received a call about a fight near Hudson and Orchard streets shortly before 3 a.m., followed by reports that shots had been fired. Officers immediately responded to the area and found the victim dead.

They then began combing the area for the suspected gunman.

“Upon arrival, one man had been shot and another was loose in the neighborhood with a gun,” the chief said. “Shortly after the shooting, we apprehended (Barnhart). He’s been charged with first-degree murder.”

Marshall said Barnhart was found hiding in bushes behind an abandoned building on Hudson Avenue. He said officers searched through the night to recover what they believe to be the murder weapon, a handgun.

Marshall said the investigation is continuing, but early reports suggest the victim was not involved in the initial domestic disturbance.
