25 Days in Jail for Deadly DUI Crash

Mark Logan Christman will serve 25 days in jail on a conviction for DUI causing death.

Christman, 19, of Benwood, will serve the remainder of the 90 day sentence on home incarceration.

Christman faced misdemeanor charges of DUI causing death and underage consumption following a vehicle accident April 20 on McCrearys Ridge that claimed the life of Kenneth King, 19.

Deputies questioned Christman and asked him what had happened. The complaint states he replied that “he killed his buddy.”

He also indicated he did not believe he was driving too fast for the roadway.

Deputies detected alcohol on Christman’s breath and noticed his eyes were glassy. After questioning, Christman admitted to drinking before the accident.

Christman was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing death and taken to a Wheeling hospital, where he consented to a blood sample. He was issued a citation for the charges.

Authorities believed Christman was driving south on McCrearys Ridge and attempted to negotiate a right curve, losing control of the vehicle. The truck slid sideways, with the front hitting the hillside before rolling onto its passenger side. King was ejected, suffering fatal injuries.

Beer cans and bottles allegedly were found on the roadway outside of the vehicle.
