Annual Home & Garden Show to Kick off Friday

Rain and snow continue to dampen local spirits, but this weekend’s Home & Garden Show brings the promise of sunnier days.

The Home & Garden Show, in its 45th year, provides Ohio Valley residents one-stop shopping for services and products to tackle warm-weather projects.

Presented by the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, the event will take place from 3-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

Vendors offer everything from windows to doors and siding, often at discounted prices.

The crafters, increasingly popular over the past years, sell Tupperware, Scentsy and Tastefully Simple items, in addition to homemade candy and other products.

Visitors will have the opportunity to submit applications for cat adoption as Webark Estates, a Moundsville-based no-kill recommended organization, will have adoptable cats on display. The application and home visit process mean the cats are not able to go home with adopters on the day of application.

“The Home & Garden Show has always been a great way for us to showcase our adoptable animals,” said Pam Lacefield, Webark Estates manager.

The Chamber anticipates attendance of about 10,000.

This year’s event will mark the last for Chamber President Terry Sterling, as he will leave his position at the Chamber March 31 after serving 20 years as president.

“I look forward to a very successful show,” he said.

The show is the only marketing some local companies do because it provides them with a full book of business for the year.

Sterling particularly extended his thanks to DeNoon Lumber Co., who sponsor the event with WTOV-9, for their continued support of the Home & Garden Show.

“I’ve personally known the DeNoon family for 28 years and consider them one of the finest-run businesses in the region,” Sterling said.

The show has been a catalyst for the company in the Wheeling area for years, according to DeNoon Lumber spokesman Rob Vandine.

The Home & Garden Show is the largest home, garden, sports products and services exhibition in the Ohio Valley. Several companies, organizations and individuals will add their tables to the lineup this year, including:

Budget Interiors, Carpet Showcase Flooring Center, Del Suppo Pools and Spas, Edward Jones, Hill International Trucks LLC, ItWorks, K. Hovnanian Homes, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Made in the Shade, Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing, Mountaineer Brewfest, Nicholas Customer Interiors, Thirsty Choice LLC, Stone Mor Cemeteries, The Seeing Hand Association, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, Wheeling CVB and the Wheeling Vet Center.
