Fitzsimmons Running For W.Va. Senate
Sen. Rocky Fitzsimmons has announced he is running for election in the state’s 1st Senatorial District.
Fitzsimmons was appointed by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin in 2012 to fill an unexpired four-year term that extends through 2014.
“I was honored and humbled to be appointed to the Senate and have worked hard to represent the residents of my district, but there is still work to be done,” Fitzsimmons said. “West Virginia is in a state of transition. We are in the early phases of an oil and gas revolution in the Northern Panhandle. We need leaders to guide us through this transition to achieve a proper balance between economic prosperity and keeping our communities safe, livable places.”
“Rocky is honest, hardworking and a man of integrity,” said West Virginia Senate President Jeff Kessler. “He is a leader and believes that West Virginia’s brightest days are ahead of it. The people of the 1st District and the state of West Virginia need Rocky Fitzsimmons in the Senate.”
Fitzsimmons holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and obtained his law degree from Wake Forest University. He practices law at Fitzsimmons Law Firm in Wheeling.
The 1st Senatorial District is comprised of Brooke, Hancock and Ohio counties as well as part of Marshall County.
