Snowy Conditions Result in Vehicle Crashes

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – A tractor trailer jackknifed and struck a guardrail on Interstate 70 in Union Township at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, causing the westbound lane of the interstate to be closed for nearly an hour.

A detour was set up for people driving through the area.

According to a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jenny E. Ramsey, 37 , of Grove City, Ohio, was driving a 2014 Freightliner

Conventional west on I-70, when the vehicle jackknifed, slid off the right side of the road and struck the guardrail. Ramsey was cited for operating a vehicle without reasonable control.

According to the report the road was snow and ice covered, and the area was experiencing a heavy snow squall.

The driver said she was bruised but did not want medical treatment.

The vehicle was secured by Stonebrakers Towing.

A quick burst of snow this morning also caused numerous crashes on I-70, including two on the Fort Henry Bridge before 8 a.m.
