Dotson Pleads Guilty to Sex With Inmate
Amber Fawn Dotson of New Martinsville pleaded guilty last week in Marshall County Circuit Court to engaging in sexual relations with a prisoner at West Virginia Northern Regional Jail.
Dotson, 30, was working as a corrections officer at the time of the offense. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Dotson will be placed on two years probation immediately following the sentence.
She had previously entered a not-guilty plea in July, but withdrew the plea.
Dotson was arrested in August after the West Virginia State Police received information from the Northern Regional Jail that Dotson and an inmate were having sexual relations.
An inmate reported the incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. July 18.
According to the criminal complaint, Dotson quit her job as a corrections officer the same day she was questioned by a jail official on the accusation.
Dotson later confessed to state troopers that she had sex with the inmate and quit her job shortly after because, “she knew what she did was wrong.”
