Paynter Arrested for Fleeing Police After Allegedly Assaulting Brother, Father

Andrew Larry Paynter, 34, was arrested Saturday after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement on an ATV after attacking his brother and father at their home.

According to the criminal complaint, deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the family’s home at 862 Dixon Ridge Rd. at about 3:20 p.m. after receiving a call of a domestic disturbance at the residence.

On scene, deputies spoke to Larry Paynter and his other son, Stephen Paynter, who said Andrew and Stephen Paynter had been in an argument outside.

Stephen Paynter stated when he got out of his truck, his brother began pushing him and punched the truck in the process, damaging the vehicle.

Larry Paynter said he went outside to stop the fight, but was pushed to the ground by Andrew Paynter.

Deputies found several beer cans around the truck and took photos of the vehicle’s damage. Deputies then left to search for Andrew Paynter in a field behind the house and found him sitting on an ATV. When Andrew saw the sheriff’s SUV, he allegedly sped down an ATV trail.

Paynter was charged with domestic battery, destruction of property and fleeing. Bond was set at $7,500.

A pretrial hearing has not been set.
