Pipeliner Allegedly Stabs Area Man
An oil and gas industry worker allegedly stabbed a McMechen resident Monday night outside a local bar.
McMechen Police Chief David Robinson said Ashley Gimnich Baker of De Ridder, La., allegedly used a pocket knife to stab Terry Davis at about 10 p.m. Monday in Goodfellas Bar & Grill on Marshall Street during a scuffle between the two men. Robinson said Baker, 31, allegedly stabbed the victim several times inside the bar and continued the fight on the sidewalk outside the building.
Davis was transported to Ohio Valley Medical Center after the incident. A hospital spokeswoman last reported Davis was in stable condition Tuesday.
The McMechen, Benwood and Glen Dale police departments and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
Baker reportedly is living in McMechen while he works for a local pipeline company. He is charged with malicious wounding and is being held at West Virginia Northern Regional Jail on $25,000 bond.
