Dems Pick Ferro and Hall for 4th District

Democrat voters chose two retired teachers – Delegate Mike Ferro and Dave Hall – as their nominees to the 4th District House of Delegates race in November.

Ferro, D-Marshall, was the top vote-getter in the race with 2,196 votes. Hall had 1,679 votes; and David Sidiropolis, 1,316. Vote totals are unofficial until certified by canvass.

Neither Ferro nor Hall could be reached for comment.

Ferro was first elected to the House in 2008. He is retired from Marshall County Schools, where he taught 35 years at Sherrard Junior High School and was a coach for 40 years. He remains involved in the schools as a substitute teacher.

Ferro serves as assistant majority whip in the House, and he serves as vice chairman of the constitutional revision committee. He also is a member of the following committees: enrolled bills; industry and labor; interstate cooperation; judiciary; senior citizen issues; and veterans affairs and homeland security.

Hall served eight years on the Marshall County Board of Education. His experience includes 23 years as a science teacher at Union Junior High, and nine years as principal at Cameron High School. He served three years on the State Executive Committee for the West Virginia Education Association.

Hall and Ferro will face off against Republican nominees Delegate David Evans, R-Marshall, and Ron Morris in November.
