Head Start Will Hold Corporation Meeting

The Board of Directors of Northern Panhandle Head Start Inc. will hold its annual corporation meeting at 10:30 a.m. May 21 at the Elm Grove United Methodist Church, 125 Kruger St., to recognize the accomplishments of the program over the last year.

Created in 1965, by President Johnson’s War on Poverty, Head Start is recognized as the premiere, early childhood program in the United States. Its comprehensive programming focuses on the early education, health and nutritional well-being of the young child as well as family advocacy support. A concentrated strength of the Head Start program is the collaborative partnerships formed in each community to better serve the children and families. Marlene Midget, executive director, will present the annual report. Linda Myers, board president, will address the achievements of the program. The meeting is open to the public.

Northern Panhandle Head Start Inc. program provides comprehensive, early childhood development services for income eligible families with children ages birth-5 including services to pregnant women who reside in Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall or Wetzel Counties of West Virginia.

There is no fee for the program and transportation is provided in most areas.
