Man Charged for Counterfeit Goods

A New York man has been indicted for allegedly bringing counterfeit goods to Wheeling in November to sell at a Christmas show.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II said Xian Chen Chen, 37, of New York was named in a nine-count indictment charging him with trafficking in counterfeit goods. Investigators allege that on Nov. 13, Chen attempted to sell goods purported to be from Beats Electronics, Chanel, Coach, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors , The North Face, Tiffany and Tory Burch.

Ihlenfeld said Chen faces up to 10 years in prison on each count. The U.S. Attorney’s Office also is seeking to force Chen to forfeit all articles and property used to commit the alleged offense.

The case was investigated by the Mountaineer Highway Interdiction Team and by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations.

It will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard.

Ihlenfeld said an indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
