Wanted Fugitive Caught in Bellaire

On Saturday, Bellaire Police recovered a vehicle reported as stolen from Broward County, Fla., Pompano Beach District, and the driver was wanted on warrants from Belmont County and Georgia.

Officer Tug Hildenbrand was on patrol in the 4600 block of Noble Street and stopped the vehicle after it almost struck another vehicle.

The driver was identified as Melissa Lynne Hankett, 30, aka Melissa Lynne Leasure, who was arrested and transported to the Belmont County Jail. Her address at the jail is listed 4637 Jefferson St., Bellaire.

She was booked on charges of failure to appear and receiving stolen property. Her bond was set at $10,374.

According to Bellaire Police, the arrest was made after the stolen vehicle report from Florida and the warrants were confirmed.
