WJU’s 56th Commencement Exercises Slated for Saturday
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Wheeling Jesuit University will award 418 degrees to members of the class of 2014 at the Alma Grace McDonough Center. This will be the first class to graduate under the leadership of university President Rev. James Fleming, S.J.
Gr aduating with the highest honors is valedictorian Adrianna Ferraro of Gibsonia, Pa. Addressing the class as the keynote speaker is Patti Quigley, a widow from the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks who now serves as an activist. She is executive director of Razia’s Ray of Hope Foundation.
WJU alumnus Lou Volpe also will receive an honorary degree. Volpe was educator at Wheeling Central Catholic High School for 37 years before retiring in 2010.
Degrees will be handed out to graduate, undergraduate and adult students. Also to be announced are the prestigious Rev. Frank R. Haig, S.J. Science Award, as well as the Fouts, Woomer and the Swint medals.
