Two Arrested Following Incident of Shots Fired

Two Weirton residents were arrested Thursday after a shots fired incident in the city, according to information from the Weirton Police Department.
Reports showed officers responded to 101 Fernwood Drive after receiving a call that shots had been fired. Following an investigation, officers arrested James Bruce Long, 38, and Carole Louise Long, 66.
According to police, after entering the residence during the investigation, James Long was located hiding in a spare room of the house. While officers attempted to arrest him, James Long allegedly drew a switch blade knife from his pocket.
Further investigation by officers indicated Carole Long allegedly had hidden the fired weapon in a cardboard box located in the garage at the residence.
James Long has been charged with attempted malicious assault on a police officer, wanton endangerment and resisting arrest.
Carole Long has been charged with obstructing an officer.
Both individuals are being held in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail and are scheduled to be arraigned in Brooke County Magistrate Court on a future date.
