Car Wash Proceeds Check Presented to St. C. Band
The Citizens Bank recently sponsored a car wash for the St. Clairsville High School Band’s uniform and instrument fundraising project at the St. Clairsville West branch and presented the proceeds check to Kathy Ranhart, St Clairsville band associate director and several of the students who participated.
Donations from the car wash totaled $1,002.32 and Citizens added a matching donation of $1,000, for a total of $2,002.32 going to the fundraising project.
The St Clairsville music program, at both the middle school and high school, is growing. As a result, more uniforms and instruments are needed. Additionally, it’s been almost 10 years since new uniforms were purchased, and they are beginning to show their age.The Band Parents Association has utilized various fundraisers to start the process but needs additional help from the local residents and businesses to further their efforts.
According to Elmer K. Leeper, senior vice president, retail banking at Citizens, “We were looking for a way to make a donation, but to also get the students and our bank staff involved in a fun community event. The car wash fit that perfectly. We had beautiful weather, great participation from the students, and a fantastic response from the local residents.”
Michael Perkins, president of the band parents association, thanked The Citizens Bank for their sponsorship of the car wash and donation.
“The car wash was a great event, and I appreciate all that the employees at Citizens have done to support the band. The funds raised will be a significant part of assisting the growing musical program through new uniforms and instruments. My thanks to all the Citizens employees, the band students and parents, and the great turn out from the wonderful St. Clairsville community,” Peerkins said.
The cost of a new band uniform, hat, plume, shoes and raincoat totals approximately $525 per student, and the goal is to raise enough funds to field a band of 100 students. Any contribution will help reach that goal. The parents association established four contribution levels – Bronze, up to $99; Silver, $100-$249; Gold, $250-$499; and Platinum, $500+.Platinum Level donations will be recognized with a display at the football game concessions stands, football game announcements, and a display in the band room of the high school. In addition, all donors, regardless of amount, will be recognized in a full page ad in the football programs.
