Group of Juveniles Flees Police at Alleged Drinking Party
A group of nearly 30 juveniles scattered into the woods Monday when State Police and Ohio County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene of a reported underage drinking party.
After police found 16 juveniles, who tested positive for having consumed alcohol, they arrested Fred Wildern III, 46, of 9971 National Road, Valley Grove, on five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
A criminal complaint said police went to Wildern’s home at 11 p.m. Monday on an anonymous tip that an underage drinking party was in progress. Upon arrival, the teens ran in all directions into a wooded area behind the house and eastbound along the powerlines.
The report states Wildern approached police and told them he was the homeowner and was in charge of the party.
He said the party was for his 17-year-old daughter and he had approved and was supervising the party, but didn’t know drinking was going on.
Wildern was released from the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville on Tuesday after posting $2,500 bond set by Ohio County Magistrate Patty Murphy.
