Three Headed to Court on Drug Charges

Three of the six men recently arrested on drug charges by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department waived their preliminary hearings and have been bound over to the next Monroe County grand jury.

The next session of the grand jury is planned Aug. 14, according to a spokesman in Monroe County Court. Judge James W. Peters presides in county court.

Preliminary hearings for the other three individuals were continued.

Waiving preliminary hearings were:

  • Robert Terrence Hollis, 40, Detroit, who faces two counts of trafficking in heroin, a felony of the fourth degree; two counts of complicity, a fourth degree felony; one count of possession of heroin, a felony of the fifth degree; and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. His bond of $50,000 was reduced to $20,000 with 10 percent not in effect.
  • Lorenzo Thomas, no age listed, Detroit, who is charged with one count of possession of heroin, a felony of the fifth degree, and possession of drug instruments, a second degree felony. His bond was reduced to a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, and he was released.
  • Orville Dale Baughman III, 28, Krebs Hill, Clarington, who is charged with three counts of permitting drug abuse, a felony of the fifth degree; three counts of complicity, a fourth degree felony; one count of possession of heroin, a fifth degree felony; and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. His bond was reduced from $25,000 to $10,000 with 10 percent in effect.
