A woman who initially claimed she was dreaming about filleting a fish when she slashed her husband’s neck early Saturday morning is expected to be charged today with felonious assault, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Judith Jones, 46, of 19 Second St., Dillonvale, showed no emotion when she told deputies her claim of having the dream and cutting her husband’s neck with a steak knife.
Thomas Jones, 50, who was sleeping at the time, was taken to East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry for treatment of the 4-inch long laceration to his throat.
The sheriff’s department reported Judith Jones was taken to the sheriff’s department for questioning, where she admitted she tried to kill her husband.
A 16-year-old daughter reportedly told deputies Judith Jones has been saying for more than a year she was going to cut her husband’s neck. A deputy took a written statement from her in February 2013 about the threats, the sheriff’s department reported.
The teen told the deputy she saw Judith Jones take a knife into the bedroom in the past before going to bed, the sheriff’s department reported.
The girl said she was awakened Saturday morning by her father yelling for help.
A deputy reported there was blood in the living room, kitchen and bedroom.
Jones said she washed the steak knife before putting it back in the cutting block, the sheriff’s department reported.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was at the house gathering evidence.
