Home Invasion Suspects Arraigned

Two individuals arrested in connection to a brutal home invasion in Jewett were arraigned in Harrison County Court on Wednesday afternoon.

Autumn Stabile, 19, of Steubenville and Kara Clark, 23, of Brilliant, had their cases bound over to the grand jury after their preliminary hearing, according to Jewett police Officer Todd Walker, who responded to the crime scene.

Stabile is charged with aggravated burglary, kidnapping and safecracking, among other charges. Clark will face charges of complicity, in addition to obstructing justice.

The charges stem from an incident that happened July 22, when Stabile and Clark, along with 31-year-old Bryan Nicosia, of Steubenville, allegedly invaded the home of a 71-year-old Jewett man on 101 Wheeling and Lake Erie St. Walker reported that Nicosia beat the man unconscious before tying him to a chair with duct tape and a fan cord and locking him in the bathroom.

The suspects then broke into the man’s safe and made off with an estimated $4,000 in cash and gold coins. Police were called when the man woke up and was able to crawl to a neighbor’s house.

Stabile turned herself in to authorities the next day and gave the name of Clark, who was arrested in Brilliant by Wells Township Police. Reportedly, both women confessed but offered different details regarding who took the money.

According to Walker, Stabile was acquainted with the elderly man and had visited his home before. He let the three suspects into his home, and was attacked when he turned his back to walk toward his refrigerator.

Both women are being held in the Jefferson County Justice Center, with a $1 million bond for Stabile and a $100,000 bond for Clark.

Nicosia remains on the run. Walker said police are diligently looking for him.

“We believe him to still be in the area, possibly in Jefferson County,” he said, adding Nicosia is considered armed and dangerous. He could possibly face charges of attempted murder and burglary.

Anyone with information regarding Nicosia’s whereabouts can call Jewett Police at 740-946-1471 or the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office at 740-942-2197.
