L.A. Man Facing Federal Charges
Mario Garcia was arrested Wednesday in Los Angeles following his indictment in Wheeling last week on federal drug charges.
U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II said Garcia, 41, of Van Nuys, Calif., said Garcia was responsible for thousands of oxycodone pills being shipped to Marshall County for illegal distribution. He faces charges of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and aiding and abetting the distribution of oxycodone.
Five other individuals have already been prosecuted and convicted in federal court in northern West Virginia as part of the same investigation.
Ihlenfeld said Garcia faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. The government is also seeking a money judgment of $82,500, representing the proceeds from the alleged illegal activity.
The case will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert McWilliams Jr.
