Memorial Park Episode Yields Several Arrests

Three adults were arrested and four children placed in Children’s Services’ custody after police noticed a vehicle inside a St. Clairsville park after dusk on Tuesday.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted the St. Clairsville Police during the episode at the St. Clairsville Richland Memorial Park. An officer located a vehicle with no license plates. In the vehicle were a man, woman and four children. During an investigation it was discovered the vehicle was stolen and the woman was placed under arrest. The male subject took off on foot but was located later in Martins Ferry and was placed under arrest.

The children were placed with Children’s Services.

The female was identified as Carion M. Crews, 32, of 17033 Butte Creek Road, Houston, Texas. She was arrested by the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the jail on charges of criminal trespassing, endangering children, obstructing justice and receiving stolen property. Her bond was set at $7,000.

The male was identified as Dwayne A Ford, Jr., 24, of 2737 Pinewood Drive, Waldorf, Md.

He was arrested by Belmont County Sheriff’s deputies, and was booked on charges of criminal trespassing and obstructing official business. His bond was set at $1,000. Officials said Ford was wanted on other criminal charges in Maryland.

After he fled the scene, Ford was picked up by a female at a store at the Ohio Valley Plaza and taken to Martins Ferry.

Officers tracked his cellphone and quickly learned his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Alexandra N. Meade, 23, of 1830 Hill St. Martins Ferry, who allegedly drove Ford to Martins Ferry, also was taken to jail and was booked on a charge of obstructing justice. Her bond was set at $5,000.

St. Clairsville Police Chief Jeff Henry thanked the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cumberland Trail Fire Department, and Martins Ferry and Bridgeport Police departments for their assistance during the incident.
