Probation Sentence Issued for Fraud
Amanda Jean Welling, 31, was given a suspended sentence after being convicted of fraud Thursday in Marshall County Circuit Court.
Welling was arrested in 2012 for defrauding Ron Kittle, the owner of Subs Home Plate in Moundsville on May 17, 2012. Welling was charged with taking $1,126 under false pretenses from Kittle by placing a stop payment on a Met Life check issued to Welling, then having another check issued by Met Life.
Welling pleaded guilty to obtaining money under false pretenses Thursday before Judge Mark A. Karl.
According to the terms of the plea agreement, Welling’s sentence of 1-10 years in prison will be suspended, and Welling will be placed on supervised probation for a year.
Welling also must pay Kittle $1,126 under the plea’s terms.
Welling will be permitted to withdraw a guilty plea after successfully completing her supervised probation.
