Toddler Drowns In Pool Incident

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into the drowning of a 2-year-old boy on Saturday evening.

Sheriff Kevin Cecil said his officers at the scene have provided him with a preliminary report, but they have yet to speak with everyone who was at the Rosby’s Rock home.

He said a 911 call was received at 8:41 p.m. Saturday, with sheriff’s deputies, an ambulance and volunteer firefighters responding.

Cecil said people at the scene worked to revive the boy until medical personnel arrived.

The child then was taken to Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale where he was pronounced dead.

Cecil said the preliminary reports indicate that those involved worked for more than an hour to revive the child, who had been attending a birthday party at that location.

Officials said there were many adults and children at the party.

The sheriff said the victim celebrated his second birthday in July.

Cecil described the swimming pool where the boy was found as an above-ground pool.

He said they believe the boy climbed a ladder and fell into the pool, which had a cover.

The victim’s name has not been released.
