Winners Selected to ‘Be Our Guest’ at Disney World

One family regularly attends Walt Disney World Resort, while members of the other will be making their initial visit. On Friday, it was announced that the Wade families of Wheeling and Barnesville were the winners of the 2016 “Be Our Guest” contest.

Out of nearly 40,000 entries, the two lucky families, who are not related, were randomly selected as the contest’s winners. The contest was sponsored by The Intelligencer, Wheeling News-Register, The Times Leader and The Highlands.

“I just can’t wait to see the expression on the kids’ faces,” Tami Wade of Barnesville said of her children, Eddy, Willow and Alexis.

“I have some other family members who have gone and loved it. It should be fun for all of us.”

The prize package includes roundtrip airfare to Orlando, as well as accommodations and park tickets for four people for five days and four nights at a Disney World Resort hotel. The winner can choose to stay at the Disney All-Star Resort, the Disney Pop Century Resort, or the Disney Art of Animation Resort.

The trip to Disney can be scheduled for any time during 2016.

In addition to the newspaper entry forms, participants entered the contest at various businesses at The Highlands and at Uniglobe Ohio Valley Travel in Wheeling.

Tami Wade’s mother-in-law, Jackie Wade, said she filled out every entry form she got in the newspaper.

“None of us have ever been there,” Jackie Wade said. “We plan to go sometime in the fall when it’s not so hot.”

Wheeling resident Jason Wade took his family to Disney World most recently in October. He said this trip will include his wife, Amanda; his mother, Janet; and his children, Delaney, Eliott and Braden.

“We probably enjoy the Magic Kingdom the most because of the kids,” Jason said. “The oldest really like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the youngest loves Cinderella’s Castle.”

John Posluszny, the newspapers’ circulation director, called the contest a big success.

“We’re very happy to have selected two great families to ‘Be Our Guests’ at Disney. We’re already looking forward to next year’s contest,” he said.
