New Hawthorn Suites Hotel Celebrates Grand Opening in St. Clairsville
Three months after opening for business in March, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in St. Clairsville held its grand opening celebration.
“I think this hotel brings a lot of jobs to the area, and of course more accommodations. And of course the hotel is beautiful. I’m very proud of this hotel,” said Nicole Eutsey, the hotel’s general manager. “The owners are awesome to the point that they built a hotel that will really make the guests happy. It’s the best of the best. We’re happy to be in St. Clairsville and we hope that we are successful and we get to work with the community more.”
The hotel is located on National Road, just east of the Ohio Valley Mall. The hotel’s layout will be familiar to those who have stayed at other Hawthorn Suites properties in the area, according to Todd Schirtzinger, chief operating officer for Century Hospitality, which manages the facility.
“We manage eight other hotels in the Ohio Valley. The interesting thing is that we have two others just like this. This is the prototype for Hawthorn Suites right now and we opened the first one, which was in Bridgeport, W.Va. We opened that in October of last year and then we opened the sister to that at The Highlands in November of last year, and this one — the third and final in this round — in March of this year,” Schirtzinger said.
“Business is good. We’d love for oil and gas to be a little bit healthier in the Ohio Valley area, and that’s something everyone’s feeling. But the reception from the guests in the area has been tremendous. Everyone’s loving it,” Schirtzinger added.
The hotel features a free hot breakfast buffet, social hour Monday through Thursday, complimentary wireless internet, complimentary guest laundry, business center, pet-friendly rooms, a fitness center and complimentary local calls.
“All our suites have kitchens. There are a total of 97 rooms — all are considered suites because they all have kitchens,” Eutsey said. “Ten of the rooms have a separate bedroom and living room. The first guest that checked in the day we opened into one of these rooms … is still here. It’s like his apartment, he’s got it all set up.
“There is a smart TV in each room where guests can access their Pandora accounts, Hulu, YouTube and Netflix accounts. You can sign in your own account on Pandora and when you check out it automatically erases your search history, and anything else on it, which is a nice feature,” she continued.
Schirtzinger said Wednesday’s celebration was the culmination of a lot of hard work.
“We are very excited to hit this threshold — opening up in late March and then waiting about three months to get open and getting all the kinks out that any hotel or enterprise goes through. Getting to this point is exciting to celebrate with the teams,” he said. “And if you look around tonight, you see the general managers from all of our other properties, and you see the entire sales team for the entire company here. Everyone is invested in this hotel with the team that runs this hotel every day.
“It’s just a really nice time to have that celebration with them and show off a little bit to the community. Now is the time to show the community what we can do for them,” Schirtzinger added.
