Marshall County Schools administrators will soon conduct a search for a new athletic director at John Marshall High School, after the board of education announced current AD Casey Storm will fill the final remaining assistant principal position at the school.

The board announced Storm’s transfer at their regular board meeting Tuesday. Storm, a 1998 John Marshall graduate, has been employed at the school for his entire 14-year career. He worked as a science teacher and assistant athletic director before taking on the athletic director position two years ago.

“I’m excited about new challenges and working in a new role,” Storm said. “I’m looking forward to starting at the new building when the construction is complete and working with our other administrators and improving our Smarter Balanced test scores, which is a big area of focus.”

According to Superintendent Michael Hince, Storm will continue his role as athletic director until he is replaced by a new hire or transfer.

Hince said Storm’s experience will make him a strong asset in his new position within the John Marshall administration team.

Hince added Storm’s position will be posted for five days and the board will approve a new hire or transfer at its next board meeting. Storm will perform duties for both positions until that date.

“When I was an assistant principal at John Marshall and he was a science teacher, I had him teaching honors science within a year because he was such a great teacher,” Hince said. “He’s extremely smart and accomplished and I think he will do very well.”

The board also approved a new relationship between the county nutrition office and All Saints School of Moundsville. According to Hince, the district will receive a federal refund for providing meals to the Catholic school.

“We make an effort to be a good neighbor,” Hince said. “We keep a very good relationship with our area Catholic schools.”
