Woman Charged in Alleged Baseball Bat Attack

Charges have been filed against a Wheeling woman accused of attacking her boyfriend’s estranged wife with a baseball bat in Marshall County earlier this month.

Brittany Keene, 23 of Wheeling, was arrested following a police investigation into the events of Aug. 11. According to police, Keene attacked her boyfriend’s estranged wife with a bat after the alleged victim confronted Keene about nude photos of the alleged victim       she claimed had been sent to her 11-year-old son.

Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Cecil said the woman felt the purpose of the photographs was to humiliate her, which led to her going to her husband’s house, where she encountered Keene.

“She traveled out there, knocked on the door, asked to speak with her husband. Some words were conveyed back and forth, and (Keene) grabbed a bat and went after her,” Cecil said. “She struck her several times with the bat. It was a wild scene — screaming, getting hit, and her husband came out and grabbed her to drag her away.”

The alleged victim received bruises and other minor injuries from the attack, as well as hitting her head off concrete at the residence.

Cecil said the charges in the case had been delayed in an attempt to solidify the facts surrounding the sending of the photos, which he said were modeling photographs.

“The reason we delayed charges was simply to investigate the images on the phone,” he said. “It’s her son’s phone, that belonged to her, and we downloaded the images, evaluated them. The images themselves are not proper and are a violation, but we can’t determine through the phone itself how they were forwarded. The messaging system that was used is a non-trackable system.”

Keene is free on $2,500 bond and faces a felony count of malicious wounding.
