Festival of Sound Opens Today at Wheeling Park High School

Photo Provided Wheeling Park High School’s annual Festival of Sound is a holiday tradition for students and the public. It is set to begin today.

The amazing talents of Wheeling Park High School’s music students will be on display tonight in the school’s signature performance showcase.

The 22nd annual Festival of Sound will begin at 7 p.m. tonight at the Wheeling Park High School J.B. Chambers Performing Arts Center. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, and the final performance will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Festival of Sound features many music ensembles and beloved holiday songs.

Wheeling Park High School Band Director David Alfred said the professional-level performances by Patriot students have now amazed audiences for more than two decades. He said the success of the Festival of Sound is the result of the talent and dedication of the students who take part in the annual holiday event. He also credited the excellent music teachers at Wheeling Park High School and throughout Ohio County Schools for showing the students their musical potential.

“You don’t see a lot of schools doing something on this scale throughout the country,” Alfred said. “We have something special here that gets its start in the earlier grades, and I believe what we are doing here at Wheeling Park is truly exceptional. The performance is amazing, and it’s made even more special because it being done by teenagers. Everyone should experience it.”

Tickets for the Festival of Sound are available until at the front office at Wheeling Park High School and at the Ohio County Board of Education office at 2203 National Road in Elm Grove. Seating for each show is limited, creating the possibility of sold-out performances. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early, as all seats are general admission. Tickets for purchase at the door cannot be guaranteed.
