Preliminary Hearing Set for Monday in Ohio County
Adolph Santorine Jr., who said he fired shots into the air on Labor Day to scare away an alleged heroin dealer who was with Santorine’s drug-addicted son, will have his preliminary hearing on Monday.
Santorine, of 134 Falls Drive, Wheeling, was arrested Sept. 18 on two counts of felony wanton endangerment involving a firearm, after he turned himself in to Ohio County Magistrate Court regarding a Sept. 5 shots-fired incident on Merrymount Road near Santorine’s home.
If convicted, he faces one to five years in prison, or up to one year in county jail, or fines of $250 to $2,500 per charge, according to West Virginia Code.
Santorine’s preliminary hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday before Magistrate Patty Murphy. Santorine posted bond and was released.
The hearing was previously continued from its original October date because prosecutors were unable to confirm the alleged victim was served with a subpoena, and to allow parties time to explore a resolution, according to the motion to continue, written Oct. 21 by Assistant Prosecutor Brian Ghaphery. Defense Attorney Robert McCoid had no objection.
Subpoenas were issued for Rod Vaught of the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, and for Jarrett Robinson, the alleged victim, records state.
Santorine works in residential real estate, and is a former Republican candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates.
