Two-Car Collision in Moundsville Sends Two to OVMC

Photo by Janell Hunter A two-car accident at Wal-Mart Drive and W.Va. 2 caused one car to roll over on its side, and two people were transported to the hospital.

Two people were taken to Ohio Valley Medical Center after a two-car collision in Moundsville on Wednesday evening.

The accident involved a Honda Fit and a Jeep, and occurred at the intersection of Wal-Mart Drive and W.Va. 2 at about 6:25 p.m.

The Moundsville Volunteer Fire Department, Moundsville Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department were quickly on the scene.

“As soon as we got the call, we responded,” Cpl. Steve Oliver of the Moundsville Police Department said.

Oliver said he had no idea the extent of the injuries of the two who were transported to OVMC, but that one was the driver and the other the passenger in the Jeep. The driver of the Honda refused treatment.

“I’m not going to comment on injuries at this time. I don’t want to get anyone nervous,” Oliver said.

According to Oliver, the Honda was traveling south on W.Va. 2, turned into Wal-Mart Drive at a green light and collided with the Jeep. The Jeep was turning onto Wal-Mart Drive from the northbound lane when the two cars crashed, causing the Fit to roll over on its side and the Jeep to slam into the curb.

“Both drivers said there was a green light, and the Jeep hit the Honda Fit,” Oliver said.

Traffic continued to flow both directions on W.Va. 2, but Wal-Mart Drive was blocked while the site was being cleared.

Blazer’s Auto Body and Towing of Moundsville towed the two vehicles from the site of the accident.
