Pedestrian Injured In Collision

WHEELING — A female pedestrian suffered an injured foot after colliding with a semi-truck near the intersection of 12th and Main streets in downtown Wheeling shortly before noon Thursday.

Wheeling Police spokesman Philip Stahl said emergency officials took the woman, a resident of the immediate area, to Wheeling Hospital for treatment. No citations have been issued, Stahl said.

At the scene, Wheeling Police Lt. Kevin Kettler said the preliminary investigation showed the semi-truck driver pulled out into Main Street from a parked position before the truck and the woman collided. Southbound traffic was briefly delayed while officials tended to the injured woman.

Entrance Ramp To I-470 to Close

WHEELING — The West Virginia Division of Highways advises that today, the entrance ramp to Interstate 470 west from U.S. 250/W.Va. 2 south will be closed during daylight hours. Crews will be performing bridge inspection of the Ramp D bridge.

Motorists should reduce speed and expect delays in this area. On-ramp to I-470 west from U.S. 250/W.Va. 2 motorists are advised to travel east on I-470 to the Bethlehem exit, left on Spruce Street, then left onto I-470 west. Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change this planned maintenance work.

Story Hour At Library

WEIRTON — The Mary H. Weir Public Library hosts Toddler Time and Story Hour sessions in its Activity Room. Now through May 3, Toddler Time will be held at 11 a.m. Mondays, while Story Hour is held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays for children 18-36 months old; and at 6 p.m. Wednesdays for 3-5-year-olds. All children must be accompanied by adults. The programs will offer stories, songs, crafts and games. Expect to get messy. Registration is required. Parent and child must each have a library card. Visit the library to sign up.

Fish Fries To Begin March 1

WHEELING — The Stone Church Volunteer Fire Department, 621 Stone Church Road, Wheeling will hold Lenten fish fries on Ash Wednesday, March 1, and every Friday of Lent from 4-7 p.m. at the fire hall. Call 304-243-1571 for more information.

UL Band Sets Spaghetti Dinner

MORRISTOWN — The Union Local High School Symphonic Band will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser and contest preview concert on Tuesday in the Union Local Middle School cafeteria. The cost includes spaghetti, salad with dressing, bread, drink, dessert and concert.

Dinner will be served in the middle school cafeteria from 5-5:45 p.m. with the concert to begin at 6 p.m. The concert will include the high school band. They will present their contest music and sight-reading process in preparation for their participation in the Ohio Music Educators Association Large Group Contest the following Saturday.
