Between 3:10 a.m. Wednesday and 7:57 a.m. Thursday, police handled 42 traffic stops and one vehicle accident.
At 1:30 a.m., Thompson Road, Stone Church. An object or vehicle hit an old connection to a main, just before a meter. Deputies will follow up with a report to the gas company, if necessary.
At 1:23 p.m., National Road, Wheeling, traffic contact arrest. Deputies stopped motorist Lesley Danielle Bendekovich for defective equipment, and found an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. They searched and found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and non-prescribed Suboxone, police say. Kimberly Kobasko, 57, of 82 45th Street, Wheeling, was issued misdemeanor citations for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Her appearance date is April 7, according to court documents.

At 11:45 a.m., Betty Zane Road, threat. A woman said the father of her three children threatened to come and take the children. Deputies advised her of her options, and the father didn’t show up while deputies were on scene.
At 11:10 a.m., Faculty Drive, West Liberty University, West Liberty, welfare check. Helped university police check on a female student. Campus police contacted her via phone, and she said she is OK, but wouldn’t give her location. The phone could not be traced.

At 3:31 p.m., Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, suspicious activity. A man in uniform was waiting for his manager to open the business.
At 3:10 p.m., I-70 east, Triadelphia, traffic contact, warning issued. A vehicle merging onto I-70 west “suddenly swerved to the right nearly striking the concrete wall,” according to the report. The driver said he was trying to open his new package of cigarettes.
