Soup Share Event to Raise Funds to Benefit the Poor

Dinner is April 7 at the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling

WHEELING — HoH Share Inc. will hold a Soup Share fundraising dinner from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 7 at the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling, located at 1610 Eoff St. in Wheeling.

All are invited to come any time during those hours to join in the Lenten Spirit of simplicity, sacrifice and solidarity. There will be four different soups to choose from, wholesome fresh breads, spring green salad and a simple dessert. The cost is $7 for children and college student and $12 for adults. Take out is also available.

Kate Marshall, facilitator of House of Hagar, said, “We are excited to gather together with our community during this reflective season of Lent. It is a time to think of how God loves us all, and to especially hold the poor and marginalized close to our heart in our actions and in our prayers.

“The House of Hagar has developed so many relationships not only with people, but with agencies and churches, and the common denominator is Love. Love of God and love of neighbor. We are so grateful to the HoH-Share inc. for hosting this meal and to the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling for letting us use their facility. It is amazing to be surrounded by such a caring community.

To care for the earth, as well as people, the meal will be served using sustainable (fully biodegradable/compostable) palm leaf and bamboo tableware. Take-out is available, and a display of art for purchase also will be on hand. Music will be provided by Becki Hedrick.

HoH Share, Inc. is a nonprofit (501c3) organization which seeks to creatively meet the needs of the poor and marginalized through partnership with the House of Hagar and other Catholic Worker communities of the region.

Since the 1930s, Catholic Worker communities have sought to share the love of God with those in need through direct practice of the corporal works of mercy (feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, etc.)

HoH Share also supports a “bike share” for those without transportation, an “art share” for the enrichment of individuals and communities, and other programs to meet the needs of those who are vulnerable in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.

All proceeds from the meal will go to support the ministry of HoH Share Inc. Sponsorships are available, and all donations are tax deductible. If you are unable to attend but would like to make a contribution, checks can be sent to HoH Share Inc., 87 15th Street, Suite 436, Wheeling, WV, 26003.
