Two Charged For Alleged Meth Lab in Moundsville

Two area residents are facing drug charges after authorities located an alleged methamphetamine lab in Moundsville.

At 8:10 p.m. March 20, the Marshall County Drug Task Force responded to 1334 Ruby St. in Moundsville, in an attempt to serve a warrant for an unrelated case. During a search of the residence, officers encountered a “haze of smoke” in the room and noted a two-liter Mountain Dew bottle with green flexible tubing protruding from the top of the bottle, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint states the tubing was emitting smoke and coffee filters were located near the apparatus, along with lithium batteries, salt, a butane fuel canister, two glass pipes and other items. Officers identified the apparatus as a “one-pot” device to create methamphetamine.

Following the search, officers seized cellphones from James Edward Wood, 43, and his girlfriend, Loretta Jean Minor, 38, of 5257 Birch Ridge Road in Proctor. They were arrested Friday for operating a clandestine drug lab, a felony.

Wood is currently free on $20,000 bond, while Minor is housed at the Northern Regional Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.

In an unrelated incident, an alleged underage party led to the arrest of a Marshall County man Saturday.

At 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the Benwood Police Department responded to 2200 South Marshall St. in the city, where officers were advised of a possible underage party. When officers arrived at the residence, a female tenant granted them permission to enter the residence, where they encountered two juveniles and one adult, David James Wilson, 22, of 430 Main St. in Moundsville.

According to a criminal complaint, Wilson appeared intoxicated and agitated.

When officers instructed him to calm down and be quiet while the investigation was conducted, Wilson allegedly advised officers “he knows the laws” and claimed officers were not allowed at the residence. When another resident of the home attempted to calm Wilson down, Wilson allegedly grabbed the man by the shirt in an aggressive manner.

Wilson is charged with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. He is now free on $4,000 bond.
