Ohio County Home Consumed by Fire
The Red Cross has been called to assist an Ohio County family whose home was declared a total loss after fire consumed the structure Thursday afternoon.
According to Clearview Fire Chief Shawn Reinacher the family was not home at the time of the incident. The home was located at the Meadowlands II trailer court off of GC&P Road, near Boone and Hedges Road.
He said they notified the school where the children of the family attended in order to arrange for them to be picked up, and to notify school officials of the road closure.
GC&P Road was closed for more than an hour as crews from Clearview, West Liberty, Valley Grove, Windsor Heights and McKinleyville volunteer fire departments battled the blaze as neighbors watched.
Reinacher said the home was a total loss, as one side was completely destroyed during the blaze. A nearby home sustained exterior damage from the heat of the fire.
Reinacher said a firefighter was transported to an area hospital for precautionary reasons for possible heat exhaustion, but Reinacher believed he was doing fine.
Crews with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control as pumper trucks arrived on scene and a worker with American Electric Power secured electrical service to the area.
