Woman Gets Probation in Drug Case

By ALAN OLSON

Staff Writer

A Marshall County woman facing charges of delivery of a controlled substance received probation in exchange for a guilty plea for delivering medication to someone as a favor.

Debra Dillow, 59, appeared visibly distraught in court Thursday as she pleaded guilty to two counts of delivery of a controlled substance. Dillow admitted to delivering a friend’s Subutex medication to their friend, acting as a middleman for the delivery.

“She gave me the Subutex, to give to (another person), because she had to give someone else a ride to the hospital, and wasn’t going to be home,” Dillow said.

Assistant Prosecutor Eric Gordon added that Dillow had sold three tablets of Subutex for $120 in June.

Dillow said she took Subutex to help her handle her pain medication and cocaine addictions, for which she had been receiving treatment for for a year and a half. However, she said she struggles with several physical and mental problems.

“For the past year and a half, I’ve been going to this clinic, and I’ve been doing well on it,” she said. “I had quadruple heart surgery done, I have a lot of illnesses — COPD, tremors. I just have so many things wrong with me.”

Judge Jeff Cramer deferred Dillow’s plea released her under terms identical to supervised probation, on the condition that she testify, if called to to do, against a co-defendant in another case. Dillow is to remain on these terms for three years.

If Dillow violates these terms, Cramer will accept her felony guilty plea and sentence her to the full penalty for her crimes.
