Ohio Department of Transportation Preps For National Road Project in Brookside
Commuters who use U.S. 40 in Brookside and Lansing soon will have to find another route, at least temporarily.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is preparing for several culvert repair projects in Belmont County, including one that will take place along National Road near Lansing. The work on U.S. 40 will begin Monday, with traffic being maintained with flaggers on the road.
On Thursday, the road will be closed completely for 10 days. Spokeswoman Becky Giauque said ODOT is grateful to residents for understanding the work needs to be done, and she apologized for any inconvenience it may cause.
Traffic will be detoured on Interstate 70 while U.S. 40 is closed.
The Lansing project is one of several planned locally, including a culvert replacement at the intersection of Ohio 9 and Ohio 149 in Warnock. That project will shut down a portion of Ohio 149 for 30 days at the end of the summer. The closure has been rescheduled for Aug. 1. Ohio 149 traffic will be detoured on Ohio 147 during the work.
The overall $1.1 million culvert project at four locations is being completed by Americon Industrial Services LLC of Youngstown, Ohio.
