Harry Benson Named Federal Law Clerk in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia in Wheeling

Harry Benson has been named U.S. Magistrate James E. Seibert’s law clerk for the 2017-18 term.

Seibert is a magistrate in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, which is headquartered at the Federal Building on Chapline Street in Wheeling.

“I am delighted to welcome Harry to the Wheeling area and look forward to working with him throughout the year,” Seibert said in making the announcement.

Benson, who lives in the Wheeling area, earned a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in 2014, where he majored in management with an emphasis in human resource management. Benson graduated in May with a juris doctorate degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.

During law school, Benson interned for U.S. Magistrate David Noce in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. Additionally, he participated in a clinical internship at the Circuit Attorney’s Office for the city of St. Louis.

Benson also worked as a law clerk at the law firm Kruse Law LLC.

Job duties of a federal law clerk typically include conducting legal research, preparing memos, drafting orders and opinions, proofreading a judge’s orders and opinions, communicating with attorneys and assisting the judge during hearings.
