Local Talent Pool to Appear in Production in Wheeling
When “Ticket to Nashville” rolls onto the stage at the Capitol Theatre on Sept. 22-24, audience members will recognize some of the key players from their own hometowns.
This new country musical coming to the historic downtown Wheeling theater tells the story of a young man from small-town West Virginia who must decide between staying in his hometown with his high school sweetheart or heading to Nashville to further his promising career in country music. When a music star appears in his hometown for a concert, it only fuels his confusion between fame and the love of his life.
The lead role goes to Tristen Smith from St. Clairsville, while local talents in supporting roles include Michael Moran, Matt Van Fossen, Paige Madden, Woody Pond, Molly Malady and Karissa Martin. They all will add their individual talents to the show whether singing, acting or a combination of both.
In addition, a number of Ohio Valley child actors will serve in supporting cast roles, said Ty DeMartino, writer and award-winning stage and screenwriter.
DeMartino, who hails from Maryland, is in the Ohio Valley as some cast members of the musical are touring local venues to promote the show. Kaileigh Bullard, Alexis Gomez and Terry Kiser round out the main characters of the show that will feature all of them singing some of country music’s most beloved songs.
Beginning at noon Monday, there will be a preview show at Quaker Steak and Lube at The Highlands. Kiser, Bullard, Gomez, Smith and Madison Bolin of Lazy Jane will appear.
When the cast takes the stage Sept. 22-24, the music performed during the shows will be easily recognized by fans of all ages. Show producer Robin Capehart said, “Our audience will find themselves singing along with some of country music’s greatest hits. The familiarity with the show’s music, extremely talented cast and highly entertaining script will make this show a truly wonderful experience.”
Among the songs in the musical will be “Crazy,” a Patsy Cline hit; “I Will Always Love You,” made popular by Dolly Parton; and “What Are We Doing in Love,” a beloved number from Kenny Rogers and Dottie West. Other notable songs to be sung by the cast will be hits from Alabama, Little Jimmy Dickens, Trace Adkins, Barbara Mandrell, Trisha Yearwood, Darrell Scott, Rascal Flatts, Bonnie Raitt, Don Williams, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and Tracy Byrd.
