At 12:59 p.m., a deputy made a traffic stop on Girty’s Point Road off W.Va. 88 due to a vehicle having a cracked windshield. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for fraudulent motor vehicle identification.

BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

At 4:04 a.m. Thursday, units responded to Eat’n Park for a complaint by an employee about a door through which someone apparently had tried to gain entry overnight.

At 12:19 a.m. Thursday, a deputy and K-9 unit responded to a request for assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol at Ohio 7 and Interstate 470 on a traffic stop. According to the report, a syringe was confiscated from the vehicle, and the patrol was handling the report.

At 12:18 a.m. Thursday, units responded to a traffic stop at Belmont Street by the 7 Inn in Bellaire. A K-9 unit reportedly gave a positive indication on the vehicle, which carried West Virginia plates. Drugs were found on a subject’s person, and crack cocaine was found in socks, according to the report. During the stop, a deputy was reportedly involved in a vehicle accident. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was dispatched to handle the accident report involving units from the sheriff’s office. An emergency squad was called to the scene to check the condition of the subject in custody, who stated he was OK, according to the report. Jason J. Haller, 42, was taken to jail and booked on three felony drug charges, as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments.
