South Wheeling Confrontation Leads to Weapon and Fleeing Charges

A Wheeling man faces charges of having a concealed deadly weapon and fleeing from an officer after allegedly attempting to confront another man in South Wheeling.

On Wednesday, police received a call from a woman stating a man named “Carlos” came to her home in search of her son. The man was later identified as Kamron Brown, who told the woman he was trying to get in contact with her son, according to a criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, Brown said the resident’s son was threatening to shoot his friend, and that he wanted to resolve the situation. The resident, her son and Brown spoke outside of the home to discuss the matter, according to the complaint.

The report states all parties went their separate ways, only to have Brown return to the residence later. According to the complaint, the homeowner observed Brown via security camera.

The resident’s son later went outside and found damage to his vehicle.

“Three bricks had been thrown at his vehicle, striking the left driver side and passenger windows, driver side door and windshield causing it to shatter,” the complaint states.

Neighbors then informed police that a man fitting Brown’s description was hiding in their yard. The subject was found hiding on the railroad tracks between Wilson Street and Wood Street, according to the complaint.

Brown allegedly fled from police, who observed him hiding beneath W.Va. 2. According to the complaint, officers ordered Brown to remove his hands from behind his back and put them in the air.

Brown did not comply, leading the officer to pull his firearm, according to the complaint. After Brown showed his hands, the complaint states, the officer holstered his weapon and placed Brown under arrest.

During a search of Brown, the officer allegedly discovered two knives — a blue razor and a black folding knife with a hooked, serrated blade, according to the complaint. When police asked Brown why he had the knives, Brownallegedly claimed it was a precaution because the homeowner’s son threatened to shoot Brown’s friend.

Brown is being held at the Northern Regional Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
