Wheeling Woman Accused of Sending Sexual Video to Minor in Marshall County
A Wheeling woman is facing a felony charge for allegedly sending pornographic videos of herself and others to a minor in Marshall County.
The Moundsville Police Department received a complaint from a local mother on Sept. 15, regarding a video sent to her 12-year-old son from an unknown number. According to a criminal complaint, the mother opened her son’s text messages and discovered a video of two women engaging in sexual acts.
The complainant also stated her husband tried to call the number to confront the sender, resulting in a female answering, who laughed, sang and used profanity. The boy’s mother also stated she messaged the number back from her son’s phone, telling the sender the phone belonged to a child and that she would be contacting the police department.
After working with a Verizon Security Assistance team, officers traced the number from which the video allegedly was sent to Tiffany Nicole Daugherty, 21, of 258 Fairmont Ave. in Wheeling.
According to the complaint, Daugherty turned over her cellphone to police in accordance with a search warrant. She reportedly claimed she thought the text was a joke, but denied sending the video and would not indicate who did.
While reviewing the phone, officers allegedly found several photos similar to the video that had also been sent.
Daugherty is charged with distributing obscene matter to a juvenile, a felony. She is currently free on $5,000 bond.
